Sickness accounted for 131 million working days lost in 2011 - but the number is falling, finds ONS

411-Approximately 131 million working days were lost to sickness absence in 2011, a new report from the Office for National Statistics shows. This was a fall of 26% since 1993 (when 178 million days were lost) despite an increase in total employment from around 25 million people to about 29 million people. The amount of time lost per worker was four and a half days in 2011 down from just over seven days in 1993.

439-Severn Trent Services is to supply a filter under-drain system based on its Tetra LP block technology for the Mundaring water treatment plant in Perth, Western Australia. The contract forms part of the first public-private partnership project of its kind in the country. The plant will have an initial 165MLD capacity, and an ultimate maximum 240MLD capacity. Work on the plant began in 2011 and it is due to begin operations in July 2013.
